Mayrhofner Cablecars

The Top station of the Penkenbahn is with over 200 km of marked and cultivated paths the perfect starting point for countless hikes and hut tours.

The Penkenbahn and the chairlifts will take you into a spacious pasture area where families and senior citizens can make extensive walking tours on well-constructed paths.

The Ahornbahn conveniently carries you into dizzy heights. The Wasserwelten Mayrhofen and Hippach offer you a refreshing experience.

Nature Park of the Zillertal Alps

The Nature Park Zillertal Alps is located at the back of the Zillertal in a marvellous natural and cultural surrounding in the north of the Alpenhauptkamm. The Nature Park covers an area of 379 km² and extends over altitudes ranging from ca. 1,000m to 3,510 metres above sea level. Those wanting to hike the entire region will need seven whole days.

From Mayrhofen, which is the gate to the Nature Park of the Zillertal Alps, the back of the valley parts into several side valley´s.  
Since 1991 these high alpine landscapes, known as the Zillertal Main Ridge, have been under protection. In 2001 the area was rewarded with the title „Nature Park“ – an internationally recognized conservation category.

Public roads, helicopter flights or cable cars for tourism purposes are strictly forbidden in the Nature Park

Discovering the Zillertal by Bike

Pass lonesome mountain pastures and ancient farms on shady paths through the silent mountain valley. You can go higher than the timberline with the snow-covered peeks of the mountains in the background. The biking facilities in Mayrhofen fulfil every desire – no matter if you are a passionate biker or you simply want to take a nice biking tour with your family. The Zillertal offers a total of 800km cycling- and mountain-biking tours up to 2000 metres above sea-level.  Many routes are also available as GPS data for download. You can borrow the necessary equipment in the tourist office Mayrhofen. You can also book local guides who accompany you on your tours.
